2006: the year in years.

the good:
· the engagement
· the new job
· lots of maggie, including omg a blog
· lots of friends, both old and new
· liberation from the night shift, commemorated by cupcakes
· many, many happy recaps in person, and seeing shea from carlos beltran’s perspective (albeit minus the stacks and stacks of money)

the bad:
· the increasing batshittedness of the world, from the weather to the political storms, capped yesterday, when someone stole my new york times, no doubt for the ‘posterity’ of the ’saddam executed’ front page
· death, loss, and sadness
· the ever-expanding size of my ass — it’s like once i admitted it in public i gave it a license to grow ever larger (and yeah, i know this sounds superficial compared to points one and two, but it still counts)

the meh:
· planning a wedding in new york city, because everyone is assumed to have piles of money just sitting around
· the eight months i spent updating a web site that was read by, tops, me and the eight fans of [crappy band names redacted] out there
· my complete lack of follow-through on certain long-term projects
· the light in the living room went out in august, and i still haven’t called the super to replace it yet, meaning that i’ve been working under semi-cloak of darkness ever since
· my reading time has been sliced thanks to my new commute-free existence–this is really the only complaint i have about the new gig, though, so maybe i should just start taking more subway trips to nowhere

that’s a lot of good (and a little bit too much meh), but that said, here’s to a better 2007 for everyone.
