i started writing down the songs that i picked on the jukebox the other night, when i was at a bar watching the mets game, and i thought to myself, “hey, this sounds like something that i could put up on the site.” so, here you go, you 25 people who are devoted readers of maura.com after all these years–a new feature! hope this one lasts longer than that mixed-drink-chronicle i tried a few months back.

venue: lansdowne road, new york, ny.
jukebox type: ecast.
number of songs played: 24.
songs: jarvis cocker, “fat children”; fall out boy, “dance, dance”; lcd soundsystem, “all my friends”; franz ferdinand, “do you want to”; siouxsie and the banshees, “cities in dust”; the cure, “never enough”; tracy bonham, “mother mother”; la guns, “never enough”; madonna, “express yourself”; nelly furtado, “say it right”; stone temple pilots, “interstate love song”; cheap trick, “surrender”; onyx, “slam”; black crowes, “jealous again”; guns n’ roses, “rocket queen”; journey, “don’t stop believin’”; rihanna, “umbrella”; the four tops, “are you man enough?”; david bowie, “little wonder”; the go! team, “junior kickstart”; the raconteurs, “steady as she goes”; blind melon, “dear old dad”; the arctic monkeys, “i bet you look good on the dancefloor”; r. kelly, “ignition (remix).”
total money spent: $14.
personal favorite: “junior kickstart,” probably because i was kinda drunk and the mets were on the verge of completing their win against the braves. although the onyx song sounded great too.
crowd favorite: “don’t stop believin’,” natch, although there were a bunch of dudes in the front of the bar singing along with “dance, dance.”

Bonus feature: Approximately 15 of your song titles would make good candy conversation hearts.

The ecast folks were incubated right next to the WholePeople people at Viant, back in the day. Rebecca Eisenberg even worked for them!
