it had to happen eventually, i guess.

i got hacked. it was very sneaky and bad; a directory filled with references to a certain popular search term somehow got implanted on my site, unbeknownst to me, about a month or so ago, and i only noticed tonight, when i looked at my stats page and found that 95% of my traffic was being directed toward pages within. it’s gone now, but i feel like a fucking newbie-slash-grandma. well, at least i’m not telling anyone about gift cards at certain popular department stores via myspace, but still … blech. i feel terrible right now! this is so embarrassing and violating; i feel like i just found out that there’s been a hidden camera installed in my apartment for the twenty-eight days (nb: that could be because i just watched a rerun of cheaters). i don’t know if this is a sign that i should update more or just take this whole thing down, although the latter would probably mean that the terrorists had won.

Any idea how it happened? Old version of wordpress?

Looks like it was a vulnerability in Akismet actually. Ugh!

And here I was hoping the title meant you’d gotten hitched. ;)

Sorry to hear about the hack. That’s totally violating and gross.
